In 1996 the Skull Base Institute moved from its previous location in New York to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Office Towers in Los Angeles. Since then thousands of patients from all over the world have been successfully treated. They came from as far west as Sydney, Australia or Tokyo, Japan and as far east as Napoli, Italy or Toulouse, France. Similarly, patients from every state in our great nation have also undergone surgery at the Skull Base Institute.
We have established one of the largest practices specializing in minimally invasive endoscopic skull base and brain tumor surgery. Our innovative techniques have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and are well illustrated on this web site.
Our patients suffer from a variety of skull base and brain tumors including pituitary tumors, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, craniopharyngiomas and intracranial neurovascular conflicts such as trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm. The vast majority of these disorders can and have been treated using minimally invasive endoscopic techniques and more than 90% of our patients have been discharged within forty-eight hours.
In September 2003, the Skull Base Institute moved to an entirely new suite on the top (eleventh) floor of the building. The world-renowned architectural firm, HOK (Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum) designed the new larger facilities to include a large patient conference room with wireless computer graphic displays and state-of-the-art patient education material.
We expect our growth to continue in the coming years to serve patients from around the world as well as locally. We will strive to maintain the same quality and personalized care that we have always provided and that our patients understandably expect.
